SafePark:
Car Park Gas Detection
SafePark is the complete car park gas detection system. Designed specifically for enclosed and underground parking environments, SafePark helps operators protect users, stay compliant with all regulations and significantly reduce energy costs.
Electricity is expensive, and running ventilation systems continuously places a heavy and unnecessary burden on operating budgets. In reality, emission levels in a car park fluctuate throughout the day depending on traffic volume and vehicle type
SafePark automatically adjusts ventilation in response to real-time gas levels. Fans increase when thresholds are breached and scale back once safe conditions are restored, delivering measurable energy savings without compromising safety.
Car Park Gas Detection Gas Hazards
Car parks present a range of gas hazards that can pose serious health and safety risks if not properly monitored and managed. The most common hazards are directly linked to vehicle emissions and emerging vehicle technologies.
Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Carbon monoxide is the primary hazard addressed by car park gas detection systems. CO is a colourless, odourless and highly toxic gas produced by incomplete combustion and emitted from vehicle exhausts. Even low‑level exposure over time can result in serious health risks, making reliable CO detection essential in all car parks.
Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂) and Nitric Oxide (NO)
Nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide are poisonous gases commonly produced by diesel vehicles. These gases are frequently encountered in underground car parks and delivery areas with high volumes of commercial traffic. While not flammable at room temperature, NO₂ acts as an oxidiser, contributing to a more flammable atmosphere.
Flammable Gases
Modern car park gas detection must also consider flammable gases. Hydrogen may be released from lithium‑ion batteries in electric vehicles, while LPG emissions remain common in regions with LPG‑fuelled vehicles. Without effective monitoring, these gases can contribute to flammable or explosive conditions.

Our Approach to Car Park Gas Detection
Car park gas detection must be tailored to how parking environments actually operate. A generic detection strategy can result in inefficient ventilation control, increased energy costs and elevated risk.
SafePark harnesses IGD’s Sentinel+ fixed gas detection platform to deliver 24/7 digital car park gas detection across all monitored areas. Real‑time gas data is used to automatically control ventilation systems, ensuring safe air quality while avoiding unnecessary fan operation.
For large or multi‑site parking estates, SafePark can be integrated with GasNet remote monitoring. GasNet provides centralised access to car park gas detection data, system diagnostics and alerts, supporting efficient maintenance and compliance management.
SafePark Detector
SafePark gas detectors are supplied pre‑calibrated for carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), nitric oxide (NO) or flammable gases (LPG and hydrogen). Designed specifically for car park gas detection, these long‑life detectors deliver fast, accurate and reliable performance and are backed by IGD’s 10‑year electronics warranty.
SafePark Controller
The SafePark Controller is ideal for HVAC‑led car park gas detection installations and system upgrades. Mounted on a DIN rail, it provides intuitive control of all connected devices on the network and delivers digital readings via its built‑in Wi‑Fi interface. Single‑port and six‑port options are available to suit different car park sizes.
SafePark Control Panel
The SafePark Control Panel provides Sentinel+ power to your entire system and is the best option for end users. It features a 2×8 RGB display, jog wheel interface, 1‑click setup and Wi‑Fi‑enabled backup of customised system settings.
Sentinel+ 2-Wire Car Park Gas Detection
SafePark car park gas detection systems are built on IGD’s advanced 2‑Wire Addressable digital communication platform: Sentinel+. Multiple detectors and devices can be connected in series, reducing installation time and cost while delivering precise monitoring throughout the car park. Sentinel+ software allows additional devices to be connected directly from the nearest detector. Modbus and BacNet functionality means our system can be integrated into third-party BMS and ventilation controls. Built‑in Wi‑Fi enables cloud‑based data acquisition, SMS and email alerts, remote maintenance and data log downloads. In many car park gas detection upgrades, existing wiring can be reused to significantly reduce installation costs.
